How to access and use your Azure Virtual Desktop

Getting Started

Step 1: Install Remote Desktop Client

Download and install the Remote Desktop client for your platform:

Step 2: Subscribe to Workspace

Open the Remote Desktop client and subscribe to the AVD workspace:

  1. Launch the Remote Desktop application
  2. Click Subscribe or Add Workspace
  3. Enter the workspace URL: https://rdweb.wvd.microsoft.com
  4. Sign in with your Azure AD credentials
  5. The gaming desktop will appear in your workspace

Step 3: Connect to Gaming Desktop

Launch your gaming session:

  1. Double-click the desktop icon in Remote Desktop
  2. Wait for the session to connect
  3. Your gaming desktop is ready to use!

Tips for Best Performance

🌐 Network Connection

Use a wired Ethernet connection for lowest latency

🖥️ Display Settings

Enable "Use all displays" in Remote Desktop settings for multi-monitor support

🎮 Controller Support

USB controllers are automatically redirected to the remote desktop

🔊 Audio Quality

Set audio quality to "High" in connection settings for best experience

Troubleshooting

Can't see the desktop in my workspace?

Make sure you're assigned to the correct Azure AD group. Contact your administrator if needed.

Connection is slow or laggy?

Check your internet speed (minimum 15 Mbps recommended). Close bandwidth-heavy applications on your local machine.

Desktop disconnects frequently?

Verify your network is stable. Consider using a VPN if on public WiFi.

Games won't launch or perform poorly?

Ensure the desktop has GPU acceleration enabled. Report persistent issues to your administrator.

Important Information

⏰ Session Time Limits: Sessions may be disconnected after periods of inactivity to save resources.

💾 File Storage: Save important files to OneDrive or mapped network drives. Local desktop storage may not persist between sessions.

🔒 Security: Never share your credentials. Always sign out when done using the desktop.
